Signs of Progress or Regress at Manchester United… A Comparison between Louis Van Gaal and Mourinho

JOSEEEE

Red Army was really frustrated this time around last season, because of their boring gameplay *literally you could fall asleep 15 minutes into the match* and the other reason was inconsistent results. Fans overjoyed when Manchester United announced the Portugal ingenious Jose Mourinho as their new manager at the end of 2015/16 season.

We already observed the change in their gameplay straight away from their first game away against Bournemouth. Jose made sure he continues his ritual of building a strong squad, as he did with Inter, Chelsea, and Madrid. With the signing of top-class players like Ibrahimovic, Pogba, Bailly and Mkhitaryan.

As of today, we are in the 28th week of the Barclay Premier League. If we compare the stats of current season with Louis Van Gaal’s first season, some fans might be disappointed. They have the same number of points i.e. 53, as they did in Van Gaal’s first season. Although they did go on an unbeaten run for 19 games this season, but a majority of them includes draws.

If we have one word that could describe this season for them, it would be ‘6th position’. They have been stuck in sixth place for a time longer Chelsea stayed on the top this season. Although fortunately, they are not at sixth position anymore, they are stuck at the fifth position now. *Thanks to Arsenal Choke-up*

Here are some surprising stats for Mourinho and Louis Van Gaal after first 28 games as a manager at MANCHESTER UNITED.

For all the fans, it was not a dream start they were expecting from Mourinho. Although these stats indicates that his performance as a manager is almost same as Van Gaal’s first season. There are still some signs of improvement, as their gameplay has reached closer to the level it was with Sir Alex Ferguson, i.e. attacking football with never giving up mindset.

We all know how Mourinho gets back in his second season at a club, whether it is be Chelsea, Real Madrid, or Inter. You do not have to worry, and even appointing Giggs would not have been a wiser decision.
